TEDx Talk Recap: The Simple Secret of Being Happier

Last Saturday was truly one of the most incredible experiences of my entire life. I have been in awe and inspired by TEDx talks for years and years. TEDx and Ted Talks inspired me to start my company, Arrive at Happy and do the work I do after I heard happiness speakers like Shawn Achor and many others.

It has been approximately 18 months that I've worked with TED coaches to get on TEDx, and I knew I wanted my talk to be on happiness. I knew that I wanted to make The Science of Happiness accessible and to motivate as many people as possible to learn more about the Science of Happiness: parents, business leaders, teenagers, and as many people as possible.

We had a speaker gathering on Friday, so we got to know each other better in a casual and less stressful setting.

After a restless night of sleep, On Saturday, I woke up to one of my dear friends, Ginger surprising me, which was such an awesome way to start the day. When we arrived at the location, all speakers were in the green room waiting for makeup artists and hair stylists to arrive. One of the speakers, Mariama, started the morning with a beautiful prayer and intention setting, and we held hands.

There were about one hundred people in the audience, and then all of these cameras for their filming efforts. I tried to look at the camera and stay focused on the audience. It was so much fun! My talk was about 12 minutes, but at the moment, it felt like it was about three minutes. It went by very fast!

After I was done, the host did a Q&A with me, which was cool because the audience could hear the answers. After that I listened to a few more speakers, we had pictures, then people purchased my book, and I also had a book signing for them.

My family, some friends, and some of my clients traveled with me to Manitou Springs, and after things settled down, there was an after-party celebration.

The whole experience was so, so incredible. I feel honored and feel so full of gratitude. It truly is a bucket list experience, and I will hopefully do many more TEDx Talks. One day I will get to the big TED stage. That's part of my goal.

Thank you so much to those who attended our Watch Party! If you missed it, my TEDx talk comes out in early January, and I will be sure to share it with you!
